Counterfeit & Redline 29th September 2007 Spirit of the Blitz II Well how honoured am I for a 2nd time since the First ‘Taffy’ Benefit Do in March (2006)! Firstly, I saw youngsters ‘Redline’ with their energetic style of rock start off with G n R’s ‘You could be mine’ and Thin Lizzy’s ‘Cold Sweat’ featuring Counterfeits guitarist Pete After an incredible gesture by a young lady with long blonde hair – a sponsored ‘headshave!’ bids for t-shirts and another gift of a guitar to auction, then its Counterfeit time. With quite a build up to ‘Riff Raff’ and ‘Sanctuary’! Kicking off proceedings leading to ‘Rosalie’ then Karlo’s Ozbourne (soz Ozzy) he quite got into being Ozzy and Pearl Jam too! All thoroughly enjoyed ‘Rocky Mountain Way’ and ‘Emerald’ the floor getting’ tight for space especially when the guys do ‘Sweet Child o’ Mine’ whilst Karlos does his Axle Rose swaying impression. An awesome ‘Still in Love with You’ followed Karlo’s askin’ folks to get romantic so all the drunks at the front started to hold each other up! Some crazy stuff next as the place getting’ really hot goes mad to ‘She Hates Me’, ‘Gay Bar’ and Fight for your Right (to party) with the band ‘Bazwar’, ‘Nicki’ and ‘Pete’ perfectly rapping in time was hilarious! Winding up the night ‘Pinball Wizard’ and the marathon guitar solo inspiring ‘Freebird’ an alltime fave of mine! Then a BOF fave ‘Summer of 69’ when the ‘mike’ spends half the time in the audience, the crowd singing a majority without fault too! A searing immense solo twice in ‘Comfortably Numb’ by the Floyd c/o ‘Bazwar’ on guitar brings a great nite to an end, nearly a grand raised for charity and my ears are ringing too! Cheers, Lee Man
