‘Spirit of the Blitz

They call it ‘Spirit of the Blitz’ when folk’s pull together in the face of adversity?

Well here’s a prime example, when Local MCC’s gather along with two great bands!  Blowing the roof off packed Chestnuts, all in the aid of ‘Taffy’!  Seriouslt injured in an accident.

I’ve actually met the guy who was wearing a Jesters Hat and was interested in my reviews so this one’s for him!

First up to play the Nutz were ‘Countefeit’ what turned out to be a marathon support set setting tongues wagging, with their fine mix of classic rock and party metal covers!

Starting off with the Who’s ‘Teenage – Wasteland’ and ‘Wont get fooled again’ thru to  Ozzy/Pearl Jam then Bryan Adams!  Front man Karlos shouts out ‘You Guys like the old stuff?’ Following was an amazing Lizzy’s ‘Still in love with you!’ Done finely, most guitarists ‘dueling’ in true Thin Lizzy Style!

A whole lotta party rock next up with ‘Fight for Your Right’ plus that song about a ‘Gay Bar’ Green Day’s ‘Basketcase’ was a welcome change, then an absolute classic ‘Freebird’ turned into an immense 15 minute affair!

During a quiet bit someone behind me said ‘They’re Shit Hot!’ Too Rite! And I hope booked up for months as a result eh?

Next up John Ward’s ‘Iron Horse’ with his massive presence and antics! ‘Wardle’ left the crowd needin’ earplugs after a hard hitting set of ‘Breakin the Law’, ‘Ain’t talkin’ bout love’ and ‘La Grange’!

He wound up the crowd into a frenzy taking the ‘Mickey’, picking on folks with his fun brand of   inoffensive humour?

Alex Harvey’s ‘Snake Bite’ was snarled thru as was ‘Tush’ and a great ACDC’s ‘Riff Raff’!  All whilst a bucket was passed round for donations!

Ending up the nite with ‘Saxon’s’ ‘Wheel of Steel’ and a fine rendition of ‘Doctor Doctor’ – about two grand raised for charity, what a way to do it!

Cheers
