‘LIVEWIRE’ Thursday 12/5/05 “Jack in Black” Saw these guy’s in March at the Robin 2 Bilston doing a 2 ½ hour ‘Super Slick’ set dedicated to Bon Scott! Tonite I’m at the ‘Nag’s’ to see em back at Pub Level doing their thing! Would tonite’s performance match the last one as it was FAB! The set was going to be different as they were breakin’ in a new rhythm guitarist, so the gig got off to a flying start with ‘Riff Raff’, ‘Long Way to the Top!’, ‘Shot Down in Flames’ and a great ‘Sin City’, all done in true ‘Bon’ style by their ‘Bon Alike’ singer, who does an excellent job! Takin’ off his mannerism’s, its hard to believe he’s been dead for 25 years! (The original Bon – that is!). The track’s move on slightly next as we’re treated to the ‘Back in Black’ section usually featuring a ‘Brian Johnson’ sound alike second singer, but as he’s not here ‘Bon’ dons ‘Brian’s’ black cap and jumps into his role, not sounding unlike the ‘Gravely’ Brian! The guy’s rip thru ‘Shoot to Thrill’, ‘Let Me Put My Love into you’ and a great ‘Back in Black’! After much crowd applause and response, ‘Livewire’ pause the set for a ‘Pit’ stop! Whilst laughing and taking the Mickey out of the new guitarist who needs to go sum where? Back with a ‘Bang’ next up as ‘Dirty Deeds’ meets the ‘Bad Boy Boogie’, ‘The Jack’ with the crowded ‘Nag’s doing the chorus, and then shouting ‘Angus’! Loudly for the intro to ‘Rosie’! Back in the ‘Black Cap’ again to do ‘Thunderstruck’ and ‘You Shook Me’, ‘Bon Alike’ changes style like flipping a coin! It makes you wonder what it would have been like if ‘Bon’ hadn’t died, after all most of ‘Back in Black’ was an idea by then! So we’re treated to a piece of Undead Rock ‘n’ roll history perhaps? Taking the ‘DC’ sound further, ‘Angus’ is given a shoulder high ride round the pub during ‘The Rocker’ followed by a lot of ‘oi’ shouted loudly during ‘T.N.T’ then after a slight pause the anthem ‘Let there be Rock’ ends proceedings nicely even including a solo in the middle! Like some old video from the vaults? Nice to see the guy’s again much rawer with their sense of humour/antics in a pub setting. Cheers
