ROCK- A-HOLIC!

Tonites bands are ‘First Offence’ and ‘V8’ who caused a stir at a biker bash last years with their energetic set!  After a few pints, ‘First Offence’ starts off proceedings nicely with a montage of riffs as a first track leading into Budgie’s ‘Bread Fan’ and Fleetwood Mac’s ‘Oh Well’.  Done much heavier than the original and goin down well amongst the gathering MCC’s.  More rock to follow included ‘Smoke on the Water’ and of course ‘Paranoid’!

In between bands, Rev Ron says a few words to newlyweds ‘Red’ and ‘Nick’ she has to promise to ‘service him regularly’ and ‘ride him till death do part!’  He in return has to ‘Let her play with his little engine whenever theres an emergency!’  Something to do with Red being in the Fire Brigade, perhaps??!!

After most have just about stopped laughin, its V8 time!

If you like Classic Rock hard and loud, and enjoy a bit of Rib Rattlin Party Metal these are the guys for you!

‘V8’ I was thinking of the name?  Just like the engine I suppose – Slick, Full of energy and Very Powerful!  Just like their opening songs, ‘Green Day’s’ ‘American Idiot’ add a dose of ‘Velvet Revolved’ for old measure had most joining in!  Their set then touched on older big names in rock, featuring Ozzy’s ‘Crazy Train’ ‘Golden Earrings’ ‘Radar Love’ and a great DC’s ‘Sin City’

Next up, Sabbath’s ‘War Pigs’ and ‘UFO’s’ ‘Doctor Doctor’ had the crowd singin along on the heavy side next up for a ‘Metallica’ version of ‘Whisky in the Jar’ even with James Hetfield style vocals was ace!  A tad too heavy next up kinda ‘Lost’ the biker crowd with Pantera’s ‘Broken’ soon got it back tho with whats probably the best ‘Highway Star’ I’ve witnessed yet!  The band swapping instruments between tracks proving their all seasoned musicians!

Rage against the machines ‘Killing in the name of ….’ Went down well, the club appreciating the mix of latest punky metal and rock classic one after another!  Nearly 14 tracks on it’s a brief pause for last orders and the encores double Billy  Idol ‘Rebel Yell/ White Wedding’ then dragged back for more kicking out an extended ‘Sanctuary’ by The Cult had the floor packed even if the lights were on!

That’s Rock for ya!!

Cheers
