Valentines Bash

“Pure Snakeskin”

Well tonite we’re at a Valentines Bash featuring ‘Pure Instinct’ and ‘Snakeskin Rose’.  But there’s nothing too romantic bout this gig as the two bands are gonna rock the nite away, with the shaven tattooed and leather clad club lovin every moment.

First up is ‘Snakeskin Rose’ who does a fine mix of classic and own material. Startin off with a Sabbath/Ozzy montage of ‘Neon Knights’ and ‘Crazy Train’.

Then they launch into the first of their own tracks ‘Wild Horses’ then a good blast of ‘Voodoo Chile/Whole lotta love’.   ‘Rise up’ by the band meets a great rainbow segment with the singer taking off ‘Ronnie Dio’ with ‘Man on the Silver Mountain/Long Live Rock n Roll’ bringing back loads of old memories – those two!

Next up, a crowd pleaser of ‘Fool for your lovin’ and GnR’s ‘Nite Train’ that gets everyone rockin!

After a small break ‘Black Night’ by Purple meets ‘Mean Bone’ – the best Snakeskin tune of the nite!

After a few more pints of the gud stuff and mixed with the old rockers of Bromsgrove, ‘Pure Instinct’ are ready to go next.  The ‘Instinct’ are a v-hard workin (Brum) band who play every weekend, usually the ‘Old Mill’ and ‘Road House’.  They have a reputation for fun with hard rocking but not so obvious tracks too!

So they start off with a ‘Focus’ track ‘Hocus Pocus’ which originally had Dutch yodelling on it but that’s been replaced by a widdley guitar solo – GREAT STUFF!

Then straight into ‘Day Tripper’ and ‘My Generation’, next up ‘Burn’ by Deep Purple was refreshing along with Bad Co’s ‘Feel like Makin Love’.  ZZ Tops ‘Gimme all your lovin’ and ‘Alright now’ had nearly everyone up and dancing!!  But that left standin by a “steamin” version of Led Zep’s ‘Rock n’ Roll’.  Then a fave part of the nite when stood on a table, Bryan does ‘Bullfrog Blues’ with wicked ‘slide’ guitar then ‘Highway Star’ and ‘Mistreated’ – whilst stood on a line of bar stools lined up on the dance floor!! I wondered what they were for?  Back on stage for a change?  Then onto a table to do ‘Quo’s’ ‘Down Under’ with all the ‘past it’ folks doing the Quo dance was a lot of fun!

Then an all-time fave of mine ‘You really got me’ the Van Halen-‘Esque’ version!

After a small pause for breath they’re off to finish with big style with ‘Hey Joe’ and ‘All along the watch tower’ with past it’s ‘Blakey’ doin vocal duties!  So it was a fun endin’ to a gud nite of beers and ‘Rock n Roll’ – As Usual!!

Lookin forward to the Birthday Bash in May Already!

Cheers!
