Hybrid & Strangers 21st May 2008 Strange Hybrid Still not even a whole year in the life of the ‘Legend MCC’ and already on the third and even bigger, Better Party! Going to prove they’re going from strength to strength with bigger name bands too! Tonite’s goings on feature ‘Hybrid & Strangers’! ‘Hybrid’ are local heavy rockers having been going for a while playing mainly pubs but breaking in a new line up, are already booked within the ‘Bike Scene’ for Rally’s. Kicking off with Dio’s ‘Holy Diver’ they held the crowd thru at least an hours worth of set. Playing what would be termed as metal but giving a mellow light sound with the addition of keyboards really made noticeable on the double Billy Idol ‘White Wedding’ and ‘Rebel Yell’, Adam ‘Mac’ doin’ a great ‘Billy’ impression too! A little Bon Jovi thrown in for good measure soon seem tame as the band throws in a Sex Pistols ‘Pretty Vacant’. Then a party metal version of ‘Delilah’ we all went nuts and sang along. After the great buffet, it’s time for ‘Strangers’. Going for 15 years, they’ve played all over the place! Going under the title of stadium rock band, they play as you can imagine many big band names tracks. So incorporated into their set like a juke box set on random play there’s Queen, Guns N Roses, Ozzy, a ‘mega’ Meatloafs whole ‘Bat Outta Hell’ and Fleetwood Mac alongside a few not so well known tracks like ‘Sparks’ ‘This town aint big enough’ and Cranberries ‘Zombie’ have been the staple rock diet in their set for a while! Tonight thou, after seeing and reviewing before this band – a noticeable and welcome change to the set list what really stood out to me Thunders ‘Love Walked In’ and an incredible rocked up Genesis, ‘Turn it on again’. Not only adding a great Gary Moores ‘Widdley’ guitar marathon ‘Out in the fields’! More new additions amongst the mega 21 track set list Maidens ‘Madness’ and Kaiser Chiefs welcome surprise ‘Predicting a Riot’ which it nearly did backed up with Queens ‘One Rhapsody’ or was it ‘Bo/Vision’? What a riot – AGAIN!! Leeman 07773 969411
