Blues n ‘Booze’

It’s a good job I’ve seen the gig before getting’ the CD, as these lads play and sound like Old Pro’s!  You wouldn’t believe their ages on hearing the CD alone?  3 young guys with a great mix of blues styles varying from the scratchy style of Stevie Ray Vaughan to the crunchy sound of Albert King.  Vocals like John Mayall and John Hammond!  Not to mention the solos and wah-wah of Hendrix?  So you can see how entertained we were in the ‘Lamp Tavern Blues Club’ that night.

The CD’s not left my player since the gig and its ideal driving rock for the car too!  Nine tracks in all and most entertaining, a great slice of blues to remember the gig by!  From the 1st track with its thumpin’ bass and infectious riff, it’s ‘Trouble Arisin’!  A Stevie Ray type of toe tapper next up with ‘Woman like you’ leading to ‘Hazard to my Health’ with a blistering solo and catchy chorus!   ‘Long Time Coming’ is easily Tantrums answer to ‘Red House’?

A fave of mine ‘Goin’ down Slow’ with great stop-start riffs and drum/bass accents was amazing live!  Stops/Starts then builds up again!

Next up mellowing out, both the crowd and the CD is ‘Fly On’!   A ZZ-Top style riff starts ‘Insane Child’ loadsa solos like ‘Hendrix’ wailing away in the middle!  Trills and Fills in another Stevie Ray sounder ‘Got your Number’ – it certainly had!!

Last but not least ‘No Chance’ a wicked slide guitar Johnny Winter Style with one of the most memorable tracks from the end of the gig!  One to rock out to and closes the CD just as it starts – with a ‘thump’!

Nearly forgot a blistering rendition of ‘Voodoo Chile’ to end up with and a few ‘Rory Gallagher’ tracks thrown in earlier.

Cheers Guys!
