DRIVIN’ FARTZ - DEC 2003

DRIVIN’ FARTZ

The Road House was packed with many members of several MCCs, as the “Force” started off their set.  Kicking off with “Piece of your heart”, a D/Force song, goin’ quickly into “Wishing Well”.  Guitarist and vocal chappie, Rick Dickenson, wasn’t too well as his voice was a little “croaky”, so the band members rallied round and took turns in helping out with the vocal duties, lettin’ “Rich Man” do his thing on the guitar.

The drummer sang a funky “Word Up” and there was an extended “Voodoo Chile”. Also an excellent Ozzy montage featuring “Iron Man”, “Crazy Train”, and “War Pigs”, leading nicely into “Paranoid”.

The first set closed for a well deserved break with the welcome addition to the set of AC/DC’s “You shook me” plus Golden Earring’s “Radar-Love”.  Then after a guitar solo featuring “Rich Man” doing his thing – a medley of Y-Malmsteen and Van Halen’s “Eruption”, we got time to go to the “Road House” bar for more liquid refreshment!!  And wot a choice!  I’ve not seen a better range of bottled ales!

Back at it again “Drivin’ Force” style with a Led-Zep medley, a rapid combination of “Rockin’ Roll”, “Whole lotta love” and “The Immigrant Song” leave you wanting more!!  Then it’s “Rosie’s” turn to get “Born to be wild”!  Within close succession, a party/metal style “Delilah”.  It’s a fun filled track to get everyone up and dancin’.  A fast’n furious Foo Fighters “All my life” closes to the second set.

Then a slight breather to wait for “Smoke on the Sandman” yeah!!!  That’s right and it works brilliantly, see it and believe!

Wot an end to a nite with still more time to buy a beer!  A true nite of Rock’n’Roll’n’Beer and no “Old farts” in sight, ‘cos no one was borin’ at all.

Ta, x, Lee ….
