“Believe CD”

 

How many guy’s have had the privilege and pleasure of meetin and getting to know one of their fave bands?  To meet and greet several times, get sent a CD and have the band show interest in the reviews I’ve been doin for a year or two??

Well, I’m the man and I’m grateful to the gals in the ‘School’ for the CD, support and interest!!  Hope I’ve done it justice?

  1. Great opener ‘ballsey and catchy’, Enid taking it in turns to ‘Come on Up’ setting the trend for the whole album.
  2. Gud ‘bitey’ riff and song, this 2004 album features newer gal ‘Jax’ certainly makes an impact as co wrote all songs on the album many along with original bassist ‘Enid’ also back after a long absence.  Anyway, most rockers would dream to have these ladies askin ‘Lets get Hard’?  Good track but not sure about the title though.  Perhaps it’s about ‘Hard Rock’ not ‘Bump and Grind’?
  3. Crazy!  Nice song – multi layered backing vocals but a bit ‘Girly’ (no pun intended) as the girls are famously styled for their hard-hitting, short ‘n’ sweet rockin tracks?
  4. A fave off the album!  Saw ‘em do this in Nuneaton wen they blew ‘Vixen’ away played brand new and one chorus in your laffin and singing along, it’s a single or should be!  Especially the lyrics “Walking down the street singing Motorhead songs” spot the tiny ‘Ace of Spades’ riff in the background!  Party metal at its best eh??
  5. Secret!  Again another commercial hard hitter, great guitar effects after 1st chorus!  Only thing is the title, its repeated, 12 in all – sorry Galz!
  6. New Beginning!  Kim blastin thru this one with gutsey feel probably a live winner!  Layers of guitars against each other whilst in synch!  With a great stop start, rock ‘n’ roll drumming bit c/o Denise!
  7. C’mon “Get it on !?  Sing along with the School 1.2.3…..like the vocal effect at beginning too, think this would be gud on a live album with the crowd joining in a bit to say the least!
  8. Never Say Never!  Best track on the album – grabs your attention!  Solid rockin start to stop – grabby “chorus” to get you singing along again.  You can imagine the Glaz heads down on stage headbangin in unison in a Ramone’s style hard hitter!
  9. Kim’s gutsey vocal on this one, “You say…. Kiss Kiss” blindin Jax solo in the middle too!  “So don’t try and stop me”!  Nice one Kim!
  10. Feel Good?  Rock ‘n’ Roll Jax!  With solo intro- then group vocal “Lets go P.A.R.T.Y – All nite” so back to Kim to “Party on”?
  11. Poundin bass on this one – the return of ‘Enid’ duelling with Kim on the vocal bit – “Hold on Tight” Guy’s!?
  12. Enid’s back again!!  Sharp riff’s and nice clear vocals – “No means No” – “Yes means Yes”  I wonder what this ones about!!!!
  13. Kim’s gutsey style goes well with this ‘hard’ ballad?  “We all have to choose?....” and theres a great ‘wah-wah’ bit at the end.
  14. Bonus tracks now, talk about value “School” for money!  “Play around” with Kim and Enid (Wey-Hey!) Hard hittin again both doin a chorus and guitar riff play off and build up to the solo!
  15. Talk bout “Passion” They all play with it and you can tell!  “Can’t live without it …..”  Desire that is!  Rifferama and sustain on the main part combines with Denise’s solid rhythm throughout the album…  Quite a force to be reckoned with eh?
