Wot on earth could beat this the Ultimate Rock ’n’ Roll nite out? A few beers or pub crawl and one of rock’s most impressive personalities/bands! I did ALL of the above doin’ a few pints (to say the least)! But first high point of the nite was at hand in the form of ‘Girlschool’ drinkin and chattin in the bar! A good chat and reminisce followed by an abrupt stop as ‘Lemmy’ appears on stage. “Awright? – We’re Motor-ead and We’re GONNA KICK YOUR ASS!!!!” The guy’s then launch into a set to die for touchin’ on nearly every album done in the 30 year back catalogue startin’ off with ‘Dr Rock’, ‘Stay Clean’, ‘Over Top’ and a newer one ‘Killers’! The pack’d crowd are well ready for ‘No Class’ and ‘I’ll be your sister’ going back to the ‘Overkill’ album my fave amongst others. Next up a flash back to ‘Another Perfect Day’ – ‘The worst Motorhead album ever’ shouts Lemmy! But We liked it! – ‘I’ve got mine’ and ‘Dancin on your Grave’ were welcome! The ‘Ace of Spades’ album was the pinnacle for the band that next up play a majority of its ‘album tracks’ digging from the vaults ‘Lovin like a Reptile’, ‘Fast n Loose’, ‘Shoot you in the Back’! Breaking them up with ‘Ramones’ and ‘Going to Brazil’ worked nicely. By now the venue was very hot – the sweat pourin from most only added to the smoke, heat and volume! Then Lemmy adds another of his witticisms saying ‘Don’t dance to this song or your legs’ll break!! ‘S.A.C.R.I.F.I.C.E’ the chunk of speed metal seems even heavier as an acoustic ‘Whore House Blues’ followed! ‘Mickey Dee’ the drummer strumming acoustically along side ‘Phil Cambell’, both seated – Lemmy standing drink in one hand kinda looking ‘lost’ without his trade mark ‘Ricken Baker Bass? Back to it with ‘Killed by Death’, ‘Bomber’ followed by ‘Phil’ doin his solo intro to ‘just cos you’ve got the power’! By now things are gettin’ ‘exhaustive’ as the nearly 22 track set encores… So last up... you guessed it ‘Ace of Spades’ with every sweaty rocker in the ramm’d crowd goin for it! To be followed up with a ‘strobe’ light overload with ‘Overkill’! With its stop - start - stop finish ending proceedings nicely! Ears ringin still!? Cheers |
